Belgrade Private Welcome Tour
Belgrade Welcome Tour starts at 12 p.m. in front of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia. Established in early twentieth century, it represents one of Belgrade’s most significant buildings that has witnessed many important events in the history of the city and the nation.
Across from National Parliament, City Assembly of Belgrade, so called “Old Palace," is located. This impressive building was built between 1881 and 1884 during the reign of King Milan Obrenovic. Next to it, is another important building for Serbians, the New Palace, currently the office of the Serbian President. When the story about struggle between Serbian dynasties, that lasted for almost 100 years is over, the tour will proceed to Nikola Pasic Square, the youngest square within Belgrade.
The most charming square in Belgrade “Terazije Square” is next on your route. Hotel Moskva and Terazije Fountain are its two most remarkable landmarks. Nearby, at the entrance of Knez Mihailo Street is Palace of Albania, the first skyscraper constructed within Balkans.
A walk through lively Knez Mihailova Street will lead you to Republic Square – main epicenter of the city. Here you’ll see two most valuable buildings for cultural life in Belgrade: National Museum, built at the beginning of 20th century, and National Theatre, built as the first theater in the city. In the center of the square is Prince Mihailo Monument.
On your way to Belgrade Fortress – main city attraction, you will pass by the oldest school in Belgrade, the oldest restaurant in Belgrade called “?”, Princess Ljubica Residence and Cathedral Church.
Belgrade Fortress (Kalemegdan), dominant Belgrade attraction, built between 1st and 18th century will be the last landmark to explore on this city tour of Belgrade.
