Zemun Private Tour

Anyone hoping to experience the beautiful city of Belgrade in a different way is sure to love this city tour. With your knowledgeable guide leading the way, explore one of the oldest municipalities of Belgrade and one of the oldest settlements in Europe called Zemun, located on the right bank of the incredible Danube river.

The tour starts at 11 a.m. from your accommodation in Belgrade. Branko's bridge, first suspension bridge within the city of Belgrade is first on your route.

On your way to the heart of this charming municipality of Belgrade you will pass by Hotel Yugoslavia, in the past the most luxurious hotel, Aviation Square, well known after the building of former Air Force Command, designed to look like an airplane, which was slightly damaged during NATO bombing in 1999, and the only opera house in Belgrade, called “Madlenianum.”

From restaurant “Stara Kapetanija” your walking part of the tour will start with a short stroll along the bank of the Danube river, the second longest river in Europe that flows through 10 countries.

On your way to the highest point of Zemun, you’ll pass by the Orthodox church of Saint Nicholas built in 17th century, the oldest Orthodox church in Belgrade, and House of Karamatin Family - the most beautiful baroque building.

On the Gardos hill you will visit the most famous historical symbol of Zemun – “Millennium Tower” built in 1896 for 1000th anniversary of the settlement of the Hungarians in this part of Pannonian Plain. The tower was built of stones and bricks and the height reaches 36 meters. The splendid view from the top of the tower will take your breath away and you will see Old Belgrade, New Belgrade and Zemun from completely different perspective.

From Gardos hill you will walk down to the main city center where you will visit local flea market and two most important squares in Zemun for everyday life. In Gospodska street a quick break for refreshment will be made, and then you will proceed to the main city park called Zemun park where the Zemun’s High School – one of the oldest high schools in Serbia, is situated along with two baroque churches – Orthodox church of St. Archangel Gabriel and Roman Catholic Church of St. Rocco.

Amazing and informative walk in Zemun!

We have been picked up at our hotel in Belgrade with a van and brought to Zemun. At Zemunski Kej we started our walk. Jelena showed and told us a lot of historical and present Zemun. She answered all our questions. At the end of the tour we had lunch on a terrace riparian to the Danube and enjoyed local food. So time flew and finally we had to say goodbye in front of our hotel. Thank you very much to Jelena for excellent guidance and pleasant company. Thank you Sasha for the gentle ride. We recommend this tour.
